AMERICANA 3: ANANAS ALLA BOLOGNESE

OF LAJULES

Here we are in the third episode of American, the series that shows the horrors of the kitchen of the '70s through the recipe cards to the company Betty Crocker. Today's recipe is called Cherry Pineapple Bologna. We know that means cherry cherry and pineapple voul say pineapple, but that bologna means in this context? Betty Crocker certainly was not referring to the beautiful city by the three T. The photo bologna is a type of soft smoked sausage of beef, pork and veal. It's not all: bologna here pronounced "bo-ni-lou."

I found this definition of bologna on Google, but the truth is that today bologna found in supermarkets is an obscene version of our mortadella. Ammiratene a photo here.

The boundary is completely mashed to achieve with the potato flakes in a box. Until next time.

AMERICANA 2: DELIZIA AL GUSTO DI LIME

OF LAJULES

Today's recipe is called Lime Ribbon Delight (delight to flakes of lime). I selected not only for the greenish patina that makes the entire photo and the cake absolutely inappetibile, but also for the fact that the delight does not contain even an ounce of lime. The recipe provides for the use of a box of lime-flavored gelatin . A surprise, there are cubes of canned pineapple. The frosting and 'made with whipped cream, this time obtained with cream and sugar beaten together instead of the infamous Cool Whip. The board suggested to prepare the cake for the feast of St. Patrick, the Irish national holiday of the color green, I think.

With this cake I also want to point out another detail. In the '70s and even today to be honest, they were prepared for the popular pies. Most cake recipes in this series of Betty Crocker, are made with magic powders as Moist Deluxe, a version of our Cameo. The cook of the house (and I will explain later why I say do not cook and chef) should be concerned only with the assembly of various parts previously factory made.

Fire Helmets Used For Sale

AMERICANA 1: SBELLICATA DI BBIUSTEL RIPIENI

OF LAJULES

When Americans are about to move or decide to do some 'of their house in order, organize a yard salt or a mini-flea market at courtyard . Neighbors and friends rush, and so the lucky passers-by with some bills from $ 1 to spend. In a Yard Sale, you can buy used furniture, kitchen items, clothes, books, old records, and many, many videos. Prices should be very low and it is absolutely reasonable to expect quite a discount by purchasing multiple products. In my recent detour to are successful Yard Sale to hoard: a pack of Dead Sea mud with original instructions in Hebrew ($ 2), chair Eames original ($ 15), a copy of Faust Goethe illustrated and hardcover ($ 1), a German course of 33 laps a friend of mine (25 cents), and an ornament in the shape of octopus drinking sake ($ 1).

This morning, I cornered a box full of cards of the infamous Betty Crocker recipes, the company that invests the 30s the U.S. market for packaged foods and cookbooks followed like the Bible. The recipes I found were all of 1971, a period not happy publishing international food. Anyone with an encyclopaedia at home cooking for the period (I I Curcio in the files) will have in mind the photographs identified by the saturated red meat stewed, purple cabbage in merciless surprise filled with Russian salad, and the shiny green aspic with shrimp.

course, since the recipes that I found today are American, the quotient of horror and horror is multiplied by 1000. So I decided to choose the worst creations and post photos on the Dead Chef during the summer. It will be an educational series on dietary habits that America is trying to free himself, but also a heartfelt 'Never again' to * pre-packaged foods and recipes that include ingredients from the mini-sausages in a can, put up for cakes and olives cans.

The recipe that opens the series of calls Fun with Franks and encourages the American housewife to have fun with sausages (Frankfurter frank comes from) ... This phrase I came out worse than I meant. However, the recipe on the back suggests a run on hot dogs lengthwise and stuff, either with apple and cheese, peanut butter, slices of mandarin, melon balls, onions and pickles, or "stuffing" ( stuffing ) mixed. Subsequently, the sausages are arrotolari in a slice of bacon fried and cooked on the grill for 15 minutes. Sausage, melon, and bacon. As we did not think before we Italians? Alla prossima.

* Jamais plus? Sento il bisogno di dirlo in francese.
